The International Roundtable on Technologies for Sustainability is pleased to welcome Donna Sutherland, Head of Commercial at Veri Energy Limited, as a panel speaker at this year’s event in Aberdeen on 21 October 2026.
Scotland’s energy story is often told through what it has produced: decades of oil, gas, and world-class engineering expertise. The more interesting question, and one that will be central to this year’s Roundtable, is what Scotland does with that inheritance.
Donna Sutherland is working on one of the most compelling answers to that question. As part of the founding team at Veri Energy, she is helping lead the transformation of the Sullom Voe Terminal in Shetland into what is intended to become Europe’s largest energy hub, combining renewable power and e-fuels to support the decarbonisation of industries that cannot easily electrify.
With more than two decades of experience spanning subsea project delivery, decommissioning, renewables, thermal power generation, power networks and the energy regulatory landscape, Donna brings a commercial perspective that is grounded in the full complexity of how energy systems actually work, and how they change.
That breadth matters. The energy transition is not simply a technology challenge. It is a commercial, regulatory and infrastructure challenge that requires people who understand how large, capital-intensive systems are built, operated and repurposed. Donna’s career has been built precisely at that intersection.
Beyond her role at Veri Energy, Donna serves as Vice President of the Scottish Energy Forum and as a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Energy Policy at the University of Strathclyde, giving her a perspective that extends across industry, policy and academia.
The IV International Roundtable on Technologies for Sustainability is organised by MBY Consultants and The FuturED Institute, in partnership with the International Green Trade & Commerce Association, with institutional support from OEUK and the Nuclear Industry Association.
