RYAN MILNE: BRINGING A MANUFACTURING MINDSET TO CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Delivering critical infrastructure faster depends, in part, on the decisions made long before construction begins. Design, procurement, manufacturing and logistics all shape what a delivery team can achieve, particularly when programmes are constrained and specialist skills are in short supply.
That is why we are pleased to welcome Ryan Milne, Modular Solutions Director at Global Modular, as a panellist at the IV Technologies for Sustainability Roundtable. Ryan brings 30 years’ experience across engineering, project management, operations, manufacturing and modular construction. His career has centred on solving complex delivery challenges and translating engineering capability into commercially successful businesses.
At Global Modular, he leads the strategic direction, growth and operational performance of a specialist modular solutions business serving energy, utilities, infrastructure, data centres and other critical infrastructure markets. His responsibilities bring together engineering, procurement, manufacturing, systems integration, logistics and project delivery from the outset.
The aim is greater certainty, quality, safety and productivity. Achieving that also requires judgement about what can be standardised and where a complex project needs technical flexibility.
Ryan also places considerable emphasis on the organisation behind delivery. High-performing teams, clear accountability and strong customer partnerships sit alongside the systems, culture and manufacturing capability needed to support sustainable growth. These are relevant considerations for a roundtable examining how sustainable technologies become deliverable infrastructure. The discussion needs to connect technical potential with the practical capacity to manufacture, integrate and deploy it.
Ryan will bring the perspective of someone responsible for building that capacity into a business. For developers, infrastructure owners, engineering companies and supply chain partners, his contribution opens a conversation about how delivery models can respond to skills shortages, increasing complexity and the pressure to deliver faster.
The Roundtable takes place on the 21st October 2026 at Maryculter House, Aberdeen, organised by MBY Consultants and The FuturED Institute, in partnership with the International Green Trade & Commerce Association – The Green Chamber.
