We are delighted to announce that Matt Browell-Hook, Energy Transition, Decommissioning and Projects Director and member of the Executive Committee at Spirit Energy, will join the Technologies for Sustainability – International Roundtable as a panel speaker on the 21st October 2026 in Aberdeen.

Matt brings more than 20 years of experience across the energy sector, having delivered energy transition projects from the perspectives of the supply chain, project developer and operator.

At Spirit Energy, his responsibilities span energy transition, wells, decommissioning and major projects. Within this remit, Matt is responsible for the development and delivery of Morecambe Net Zero, a pioneering decarbonisation solution that aims to repurpose depleted gas fields as a major carbon storage facility. The development has the potential to accept and store up to one gigatonne of CO₂ over its lifetime.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Matt is also leading a major cement decarbonisation project, bringing together customers, the supply chain, regulators and government to support the delivery of the first UK National Wealth Fund investment in carbon capture and storage.

His experience speaks directly to one of the central questions behind this year’s Roundtable: how do we turn sustainable ambition into projects that can be financed, delivered and operated successfully?

The transition will depend on more than promising technologies. It requires coordination across customers, investors, regulators, government, project developers and supply chains. Matt’s work provides a practical example of what that coordination looks like when complex decarbonisation projects move towards delivery.

The fourth edition of the Technologies for Sustainability – International Roundtable will be the first held outside London. It is being organised by MBY Consultants in partnership with the International Green Trade & Commerce Association and The FuturED Institute, with institutional support from OEUK and the Nuclear Industry Association. Andrew Bowie MP will deliver the opening keynote address.
