As the<\/span> Technologies for Sustainability Roundtable<\/b><\/a> approaches its fourth edition on 21 October 2026 at<\/span> Maryculter House<\/b><\/a>, Aberdeen, the first to be held outside London, the speaker programme that has been confirmed reflects a deliberate choice: to bring together not just experts, but the right experts. Those whose work sits at the difficult intersections where innovation meets commercial reality, where policy meets practice, where technology meets the supply chains that must deliver it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will open with a keynote address from<\/span> Andrew Bowie MP<\/b><\/a>, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. His participation underscores a simple fact: the energy transition is no longer an environmental conversation. It is a political and economic one, shaping policy, investment and industrial strategy at the highest levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

From there, the Roundtable draws voices from across the landscape.<\/span> Myrtle Dawes OBE<\/b><\/a>, Chief Executive of the<\/span> Net Zero Technology Centre<\/b><\/a>, brings decades driving innovation in offshore energy. Matt Browell-Hook from<\/span> Spirit Energy<\/b><\/a> speaks to the operational realities of energy transition at scale.<\/span> Paul Hennessey<\/b><\/a> at Amentum and Ryan Menzies at<\/span> Apollo Engineering Consultants<\/b><\/a> represent the entrepreneurial and commercial side \u2014 those turning emerging technologies into investable propositions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Alan Lowdon OBE brings academic rigour and decades of research leadership in offshore renewable energy.<\/span> Graeme Rafferty<\/b><\/a> at<\/span> Offshore Energies UK (OEUK)<\/b><\/a> addresses a question often overlooked: how do supply chains keep pace with ambition? Richard McGowan from<\/span> Fathom Group<\/b><\/a> and Donna Sutherland at<\/span> Veri Energy<\/b><\/a> add operational depth from different corners of the offshore energy sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nirmal Chauhan, Technical Sales Engineer at<\/span> Intelligent Energy<\/b><\/a>, represents the ground-level perspective, the practical work of deploying hydrogen fuel cell technology in real infrastructure, in real conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

And then there is the academic dimension. Prof. Ian Thomson from the<\/span> University of Dundee<\/b><\/a>, an Emeritus Professor of Accounting and Sustainability, brings a lens that has become essential to energy transition conversations: how do we measure value? How do financial systems support or hinder sustainable development? How do we create accountability?<\/span><\/p>\n

What emerges from this line-up is not a set of parallel conversations. It is a genuine dialogue between people working at different levels of the same challenge, engineering and entrepreneurship, supply chain and sustainability, policy and practice, innovation and accountability.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> Roundtable<\/b><\/a> has, over three previous editions held at<\/span> the Caledonian Club<\/b><\/a>,<\/span> the Royal Air Force Club<\/b><\/a> and the<\/span> headquarters of UNA-UK<\/b><\/a>, established itself as a rare space: closed enough to allow honest conversation, open enough to bring together genuine difference. This year, moving to Aberdeen and the North of Scotland, a region with decades of energy expertise and critical capabilities, promises to deepen that conversation further.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aberdeen 2026 will be the most significant edition yet.<\/span><\/p>\n
